Mutual Support is a non-profit corporation with an emphasis on traditional family values. As such, there are some regular family group activities scheduled each week which all the children are expected to attend, although they are not required to participate more than they are comfortable with. These include group recreational activities such as swimming or gym nights.
It also includes going to church with the family on Sunday morning. Although there is a religious component to our program, it is emphasized that doctrinal training is avoided. Grace is said by an adult before meals and there may be a short Bible reading after the evening meal. This also provides a relaxed time for conversation and sharing. There is no pressure for any individual to change his or her own religious beliefs.
A major emphasis in the program is the loving care of children and the need to form an effective relationship with each one. Structure provided in the context of a loving and genuine relationship is what we seek to achieve within our Program.
We have a ‘no smoking’ policy which is strictly enforced. The emphasis on healthy living also extends to the area of diet where well-balanced home style cooking is provided. The children are encouraged to get involved in meal preparation whenever possible.
